How it works
How it works
- 1
Choose PDFs
Add one or more PDFs from your device, or pick a whole folder. Nothing is uploaded.
- 2
Define fields
UseTool suggests fields from the first document. Adjust them, or add your own rules by anchor, area or pattern.
- 3
Review and export
Check the recognised values per file, correct what is off, then export as CSV, Excel or JSON.
What this tool does
- What goes in
- A batch can contain up to 200 PDFs.
- What comes out
- You get CSV · XLSX · JSON.
- What happens to quality
- Your file is read, not changed. The original stays exactly as it was.
- Where it stops
- Password-protected files cannot be opened. Very large files are limited by your device's memory, not by a server quota.
- PDF to structured data
- OCR is only started for pages without selectable text. Language models and documents remain on this device.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use the same extraction rules for many PDFs?
Yes. Define fields on one representative PDF, then apply those rules locally to the full batch. Review missing or ambiguous values before exporting CSV, Excel or JSON.
Does this work with scanned PDFs?
Yes. If a page has no selectable text, UseTool can run OCR locally in your browser — switch it on under Settings. The PDF and the recognised text stay on your device. Recognition takes noticeably longer than reading an existing text layer.
Does the text stay searchable?
Yes. Nothing in the PDF is changed: the extractor only reads. Your original files stay exactly as they are, and the values you export are copied out into CSV, Excel or JSON.
Does this work on a phone?
Yes, on Android and on iPhone — the browser does the work, so nothing needs installing. Large batches and local OCR need memory and processing power, so a computer is the better choice for very big jobs.
What files can I use here?
A batch can contain up to 200 PDFs.
What do I get back?
You get CSV · XLSX · JSON.
Does the file lose quality?
Your file is read, not changed. The original stays exactly as it was.
When does it not work?
Password-protected files cannot be opened. Very large files are limited by your device's memory, not by a server quota.
Can password-protected PDFs be opened?
No. A PDF locked with a password cannot be read in the browser, and the tool says so rather than producing an empty document. Remove the protection in the program that created the file first.
