Frequently asked questions
Why 1920 pixels and not the full size?
An iPhone photo is around 4000 pixels wide. A phone screen shows roughly 1200, a laptop 1920. Everything beyond that is carried around without ever being seen. Cutting the long edge to 1920 is what actually saves the space — the quality setting alone does far less.
Can I keep the full resolution?
Yes — set the longest edge back to “Keep size” in the settings. The file stays larger, but nothing is scaled away. For printing or archiving that is the right choice.
What files can I use here?
Reads HEIC. As many files at once as you like.
What do I get back?
You get JPG · PNG · WebP.
Does the file lose quality?
The picture is drawn again and compressed again. Sharp edges and flat colour surfaces show it first; a photo usually survives it without anyone noticing.
When does it not work?
Which image formats open depends on your browser. HEIC works natively only in Safari; elsewhere convert it first.
Are camera details like location removed?
Yes. The picture is redrawn from its pixels, so EXIF data — camera model, date and GPS position — does not survive the trip. That is a side effect worth knowing before you share a photo.
What about HEIC photos from an iPhone?
They work wherever the tool lists HEIC among its formats, and the result is a JPG, PNG or WebP that every program opens. Some older browsers cannot decode HEIC at all; the tool says so instead of failing quietly.
