Make HEIC photos smaller

An iPhone photo is around 4000 pixels wide. A phone screen shows roughly 1200, a laptop 1920. Everything beyond that is carried around without ever being seen. Cutting the long edge to 1920 is what actually saves the space — the quality setting alone does far less.

Yes — set the longest edge back to “Keep size” in the settings. The file stays larger, but nothing is scaled away. For printing or archiving that is the right choice.
